And of course as I was in need of it, I decided to check for new options as fast as possible as winter was coming soon. Having started my careful research, I, first of all, decided to focus on accessories, which are very important for such kind of products. And as I have found out – it is way better to buy one in all food dehydrator rather than all parts separately. Also, dozens of reviews helped me to make a final decision and I  stopped at Nesco American Harvest FD-61WHC Snackmaster. First of all I had the same brand before and was happy with it, second – because the price was reasonable and affordable for everyone, and the last but not the least was the number of accessories it included. Now it is already almost a year and a half of my using it and that’s why I can guarantee its quality, share my impressions according to its criteria and of course mention advantages and little disadvantages.

Nesco American Harvest FD-61WHC Snackmaster comes with a good set of sheets for drying herbs and fruits either usual ones or sticky. It also provides a jerky gun which makes preparation of jerky much easier than with any other dehydrator. But the most distinctive feature of using Nesco accessories is that you can use them even if you have absolutely another type of dehydrator. The reason for that – Nesco accessories are compatible and suitable with almost all kinds of dehydrators be it Nesco brand or something else. Apart from that it shows great functionality no matter how long or how often it is used.

Top Mounted Fan and Powerful Heating Element

Nesco American Harvest FD-61WHC Snackmaster is a stackable food dehydrator and therefore it has a mounted fan on top of it which is sufficient and doesn’t make any noise. It also has a heating apparatus which together with the fan have a power of 500W which is absolutely enough for drying purposes. The heating appliance has a special Converga Flow Technology which lets air move down the outer shell and radially across the racks and this really demonstrates its power even with 500W.

5 Plastic, Compact and Qualitative Trays/Racks

As it was mentioned above Nesco American Harvest FD-61WHC Snackmaster is all in one device. And usually all in one food dehydrators come with a small number of racks or trays, which can also be of a bad quality. But Nesco American Harvest FD-61WHC Snackmaster has 5 proficient and qualitative tracks which are well built but at the same time easy removable for washing. One more plus is that the space between the racks is enough to not burn your fingers as the central parts are quite hot in an operative condition.

What is it made of?

Nesco food dehydrator is made of BPA free plastic unlike many other dehydrators, which use usual plastic, which in its turn produces noxious fumes (bad for people’s health) if used for a long time. That’s why using Nesco you can not worry about keeping it overnight.

A Minor Con

If you decide to dehydrate something thick like turkey or chicken or any kind of meat you should remember that its power is 500 W and thus can not cope with this task or it will take quite a long time. But of course if you need it why not give it a go? Just be patient and wait till it is done.

Conclusion

Of course if you are a novice and “green” at choosing and buying an all in one food dehydrator but in need of it, try to read as many reviews as you can. Personally I have done a few mistakes when choosing a dehydrator but Nesco American Harvest FD-61WHC Snackmaster is a real “discovery”. It is not the cheapest dehydrator, but it is a full range of long lasting accessories, good and powerful heating and fan, “healthy” materials and, of course, tasty products in the end. All this allows it to be called one of the best dehydrators in the market today.
